New Tampa was annexed by the City of Tampa in 1988, and about 24 square miles of it lie inside city limits, though Pebble Creek stays in unincorporated Hillsborough. Its communities came in waves: Tampa Palms in the 1980s, Hunters Green in 1991 and K-Bar Ranch mostly from 2013 to 2020.

Pebble Creek, the oldest neighborhood in the area, is in unincorporated Hillsborough County, even though it shares the 33647 ZIP and a Tampa mailing address with its neighbors across Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.
A garage floor coating is interior finish work, but related jobs are not always. Structural slab repair, a new garage addition or anything tied to a storm claim goes through whichever government your lot is actually in: the City of Tampa for Tampa Palms, Hunters Green and K-Bar Ranch, and Hillsborough County for Pebble Creek. It is worth checking before you plan a bigger project around the floor.
The neighborhoods here went up in waves. Tampa Palms was developed by the Mackle Company in the 1980s, and its golf and country club opened in 1987. Hunters Green, a 1,000-acre community between Cross Creek Boulevard and Bruce B. Downs, was established in 1991 with several homebuilders working side by side. K-Bar Ranch, off Cross Creek near Morris Bridge Road, was built out mostly from about 2013 to 2020, with homes from roughly 1,750 to 5,500 square feet.
That spread matters on the floor. A garage in Tampa Palms may have close to 40 years of oil, tire marks and old patch work. A K-Bar Ranch slab is younger and cleaner, but it can still carry a curing compound or builder sealer that keeps a coating from bonding, and on a brand-new home it may not have finished drying out. Either way, the fix is the same: grind the surface open and test moisture before anything is mixed.
A lot of New Tampa sits behind gates. K-Bar Ranch gates each of its individual neighborhoods, and Hunters Green is a gated community too. On install day, the crew, the grinder and the dust collection all have to get through that gate early, so arranging access with your HOA or gatehouse ahead of time saves a lost morning.
Larger homes usually mean larger garages, and a wide floor shows every color variation in a solid coat. A full-broadcast flake finish hides that and adds grip. If you want the garage back in a day, ask whether a polyaspartic topcoat fits your slab; cure times depend on the system and the weather.
Bruce B. Downs Boulevard continues north into Wesley Chapel, and Temple Terrace is just south past the University of South Florida.
